October 9, 2000
Attendees: Evan Kurtz, Janet Wiese, Tim Wiese, Ken Paddock, Jeri Ann Bush, Mike Allmendinger, Peggy Westerling, Cindy LaLonde, Lazlo Engle, Doug Hoyt
Treasurers Report: Teams need to report to Janet about checks needed for the indoor season. Eleven indoor teams have been rostered.
Equipment Report: Discussion of the need for first aid kits. Consistency in each kit. Suggestions were made for FIFA books to be purchased and placed in each kit. Tim Wiese will look into the price of these books.
The need for pinneys was discussed.
Facilities Report: Gym space- questions still unanswered about the cost of school gym time. Uncertainty about having a school representative present during practice time. The club will pay for one hour per team per week. Crown City gym time may be available at $35.00 per hour on Monday and Wednesday.
Discussion of Head Trauma and Concussions in Sports Injuries- Recommendations for coaches. The importance of coaches recognizing concussion and making appropriate decision of how long an athlete should stay out of game play. Lazlo Engel has many web sites available with information for coaches.
Questions were raised about certifying all coaches in first aid and CPR.
Level E Certification: Keith Eggleston will be offering a course for level E certification. The cost will be around $105.00. It will involve approximately 16 hours of course work. This may be a requirement for all travel team coaches in the year 2001.
BCSA Monthly Meeting: Tim Wiese attended the monthly meeting in Binghamton. Adoption of the by-laws was discussed. We as a soccer club must adopt these by-laws yet they will have no significant impact on our club as a whole.
The U.S. Senate will be adopting new legislation requiring all coaches to fill out a disclosure statement in order to obtain coaches passes. Evan Kurtz will be collecting these from the coaches. Generic coaches passes will be valid for 2 years.
