Dryden Soccer Club Minutes
November 12, 2001
Attendees: Bill Turner, Dan Clement, Janine Bennett, Peggy Westerling, Janet Wiese, Doug Hoyt, Evan Kurtz, Cathy Paddock, Ken Paddock, Ann Landon, Connie Kottmann, Cindy LaLonde, and Kathy Wolf
A written treasurer’s report was submitted by Janet Wiese for review. The ending balance as of 8/9/2001 was $5,147.12. Janet has requested that the coaches please breakdown the payments submitted into amount for the uniforms and the amount for the league fees.
Connie Kottmann was introduced. She is interested in forming a U-12 girls team.
Indoor Rec League: As of yet, there has been no one to fill the Jr. Rec League Coordinator position. The position requires some initial set-up time but after that there is little time required to manage the league. Janine suggested contacting SUNY Cortland to see if there is a college student interested in the position. The question was raised about finding a volunteer parent of any rec league player who would be willing. Tara and Doug have offered to help with the set-up for referees and scheduling. Some suggestions of possible candidates were Mrs. Niziol, Mrs. Foote, and Mrs. Kottmann.
Discussion was raised about sign-ups for the indoor Rec leagues. The suggestions were made to have a sign-up on a Saturday; forms to be available in the DES monthly bulletin; forms at the banks and post office; forms to go to the Middle School; and forms to be attached to the DES monthly bulletin. 74 students have already signed up for the league. Doug has offered to get an advertisement in the Courier and the Tidbits about the registration deadlines for the Rec leagues.
Ken Paddock has resigned his position as Facilities Coordinator effective November 30,2001. The job has been increasingly more demanding on Ken with the resignation of the Steve Woodard, Athletic Director at DHS. The constant juggling of schedules has required a lot of time to arrange gym times for the soccer club leagues. Bill and Ken would be interested in meeting with Dr. Archambault to discuss this situation. Bill will draft a letter to ask for interested parties to step up to these positions.
Gym times are available on Sundays if any teams are interested. When there is no paid Dryden staff member present at the school at these times then DSC is being charged for these times. The question was raised about how to charge the individual teams for the extra practice times, i.e. 1 hour per week is paid by the DSC and any additional time is charged to the team. At present 3 teams are now practicing at the Field. The charge per hour is $65.00. For the second session it will be $130.00 per hour. The question again was raised about subsidizing the cost of these practices. DSC is growing and the gym space is not.
Travel Team Coordinator Report: Tara attended the monthly meeting in Binghamton. She will take our proxy to vote at the next meeting.
Spring Rosters are due By January 10,2001. The coaches should have them ready for the December meeting. Peggy needs the $20.00 insurance fee from numerous coaches.
Peggy has many forms that have nothing checked for interest areas. Discussion about having an area made on the form for areas of interest. The forms should also show the deadlines dates for registration.
Uniform cost:
Youth uniforms $28.00
$29.00 with the number
Adult uniforms $30.00
$31.00 with the number
