Dryden Soccer Club Minutes
December 10, 2001
Attendees: Bill Turner, Tim Wiese, Peg Westerling, Kathy Wolf, Evan Kurtz, Cathy Paddock, Doug Hoyt, Cindy LaLonde, Janine Bennett, Jim Balsdon, Karen Moshier, Mike Allmendinger.
Facilities and Gym Time:
Teri Keegan has accepted the position of Facilities Coordinator. Her E-mail is Terikeegan@msn.com. Howie Claflin is back to scheduling the gym time for the Elementary School. Bill and Ken were not able to speak to Dr. Archambault about the gym time issue. Ken did have an opportunity to talk with her and she is committed to having this issue resolved. If there are any incidents of gym time conflict and ‘bumping’ please report these to Bill Turner.
Rec League:
Janine has found a willing volunteer to accept the position of Jr. Rec League Coordinator. His name is Jim Balsdon. He is a SUNY Cortland student. Tara will help organize the referees and Doug has offered to help organize the teams and coaches. 84 children have signed-up at this point. NYSW is recommending a change in the structure of rec leagues. The emphasis should be more on instruction/stations verses team play. Malcom Kersey has the information about this restructuring. Tim will contact him to send us this information.
Web site:
Bill will be updating the website with job descriptions of the coordinators positions. All present coordinators please submit to Bill these descriptions. Anyone interested in other information to be included on the Web site please contact Bill.
Dryden Rec Commission:
The Commission has proposed and approved the creation of a part-time clerk. The clerk will be responsible for taking registrations for all town leagues. The indoor rec league may be able to sign on as an insurance rider for the town as opposed to going through NYSW. This issue will be addressed in the New Year.
Spring Rosters:
7 teams are currently rostered for the spring league. TC3 will be the home field for the older teams and Covenant Love will be the home field for the younger teams.
Dryden Indoor Tournament:
The date has been set, April 6 and 7. Doug will need a copy of the insurance to register the tournament. The issue was raised again about expanding the tournament to the elementary gym. This would offer a more appropriate size gym for the U-12 age bracket. This would also lessen the length of time for the schedules. Therefore teams would not have to be playing at 9:00 at night.
Next monthly meeting : January 14,2002 @ TC3 Board Room
