General Topics

1. Recreational league: numbers are down. 35 for senior league, 35 for junior, only 5 for intermediate. Anne will contact the intermediate kids to give the option to play in the senior league. Some discussion took place on the possibility of combining with the IYSC team based rec league. There is a conflict with the opening day of the league....Anne to contact the school to see what can be done. May postpone slightly.

2. Treasurer’s report indicates a balance of $8,128.27.

The following items were discussed and/or voted on...and it was agreed that a mass email will be sent by Tim Wiese to the club membership at large:

1. The club voted to require each travel team to have a team representative attend each monthly club meeting. The representative can be the coach, manager or any parent. Failure to attend will put that team in bad standing with the club. All meetings are the second Monday of each month at the Dryden Elementary School at 7 pm.

2. No one has come forward to direct the annual DSC sponsored indoor tournament in March. This is the club's only fundraiser...and the profits from this primarily pay for practice time for travel teams. If no one comes forward to coordinate this...starting next winter session each travel team will be paying for it's own practice time up front (rough cost 10 weeks x $10 per week per session). One idea discussed to make this easier for the tournament director is to break the tournament down into separate responsibilities to delegate the duties a bit.

3. The club voted to reimburse travel teams who are practicing outside of the school gym's at a rate equal to the one hour per week the club currently pays for use of the DCS gym's (rough cost $10 per practice x 10 weeks per session). This of course is good only if we have an indoor tournament to raise money.

4. The club voted to not require our premier teams to adhere to the club's travel team uniform policy. Premier team's can use any uniform they prefer, but it is required that the DSC logo be on the uniforms.

5. We currently have no BCSA (Broome County Soccer Association) coordinator. As a member of the BCSA, our club is required to attend a certain minimum number of their monthly meetings....and we have not for several months and are in danger of being put in "bad standing"...which means no DSC team can participate in the BCSA spring league. The BCSA meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at Brothers II restaurant in Endwell at 7 pm.

6. Starting with the January meeting, the DSC will post all monthly agenda items prior to the monthly meeting on the club website, and will email it to all members who are on the club mailing list...as well as the meeting minutes after the meeting. We encourage email or phone comments or responses to both, but attendance at the meetings is preferred.

7. Peggy Westerling has volunteered to be the DSC's Tompkins County Soccer Association representative. Peggy will attend any meetings of the TCSA and keep us abreast of the developments.

8. Three current officers of the club, Tim Wiese, Doug Hoyt and Robin Gleed are in their second and last year of their terms. At present, there are no replacements in site. This is a very serious issue for the club...and it's continued success and performance is in jeopardy. Our terms expire in June. If you care about Dryden soccer...and want the club to continue to "promote the game of soccer" locally...you should be concerned about this.

9. There are currently only about 50 club members who are signed up for the club email list....which is a very low number in comparison to the amount of travel team members...around 150 families. This email list is the best way to get and give information on all club issues and local soccer in general. I encourage everyone to get signed up (you can do this thorough the club website)...the website address is www.drydensoccer.org.

Comments and responses are welcome. Above is the club website link...please feel free to contact any officer or coordinator listed on the site with comments and feedback.

Next meeting: Monday, January 12, 7:00 PM at the Elementary School
