League Member of New York State West Soccer Association Affiliated with the United States Youth Soccer Association, United States Soccer Federation and FIFA Our club has grown tremendously in the last eleven years, and we are very proud to be able to offer a number of programs from recreational to competitive traveling teams. Below is a description of what is available in our club. Please be aware that there is no guarantee that your child will be placed on a team. As our club grows, we are finding that there are not enough coaches to accommodate all children who want to play. We are always looking for coaches. Competitive Outdoor Fall Travel Soccer - options for teams are the Tompkins County Fall Soccer League. The philosophy of the TCFSL is that a Fall Soccer League is needed in Tompkins County and surrounding areas that provides U8, U10 and U12 players with the chance to experience a level of soccer beyond what local Recreational Soccer programs can offer. This level of pay is viewed as a step between Recreational Soccer and the BCSA Spring League. The TCFSL expects that the level of commitment on the part of the Players, Parents, and Coaches is above and beyond that expected of Town Sponsored Recreation Soccer Programs. This year the TCFSL intends to offer a U14 age bracket. Games will be small sided (5 v 5) on small sized fields. Team commitments will be due the second week of September. A six game schedule is envisioned ending the last weekend of October. This extension of the TCFSL is intended to supplement School sponsored Modified Soccer programs. Teams may be composed of players wishing for more exposure/touches of the ball in addition to playing on a Modified team, as well as teams composed of players who either did not make the Modified team or choose not to play on the Modified team. Recreational Indoor Junior League - the purpose of this program is to balance all players onto teams in a fun, non-competitive league. This is for children in fifth grade and lower. The players are given equal time, in all positions, with no practices schedules during the week. Each week the teams play one 40 minute game. The fee will be $22 for a seven week session. The program runs from January 7 through February 25, 2006 in the Dryden High School small gym. It is OK to sign up for both rec league and travel if you wish. Recreational Indoor Intermediate/Senior Leagues - the purpose of these two programs is to balance players from the senior high level (grades 9-12), or the middle school level (grades 6-8), onto as many teams as is feasible in a more competitive structure. Fun and kids playing are still the main goals. These leagues run from January 7 through March 4, 2006 in the Dryden High School big gym. The fee will be $32 for an nine week session. It is OK to sign up for both rec league and travel if you wish. Competitive Indoor Winter Travel Soccer - options are participating in local tournaments or in leagues at local indoor facilities (Lansing, Marcellus, Liverpool, Baldwinsville). The brackets are divided by age groups, i.e. Under 8, U-10, U-12, etc. For tournaments, the teams usually play three or four fifteen minute games, and carry approximately 8-10 players per team. For leagues, rosters are usually limited to 14 players competing once a weekend for 8 weeks or so. The cost varies depending upon how many tournaments a team attends, how many players are on a team, and whether a child needs to purchase a uniform. Normally there are try-outs to determine where a player is best suited. If there are enough coaches there can be an unlimited number of teams. Sometimes teams are structured to be balanced for an age level, if two teams are entering, and sometimes the teams are divided by ability. The time commitment is typically one or two practices a week with games on the weekends. Competitive Outdoor Spring Travel Soccer - options are the Broome County Soccer League, Premier League, etc. with opportunities for all players under nineteen to play on the weekends from late April through June. Teams must register in January with the leagues in order to assure themselves a spot. These are competitive leagues with infrastructure’s that allow for experienced as well as less experienced players to participate. Try-outs are held and the number of players allowed on a team is predetermined by the leagues. The time commitment required by players and parents is practice once or twice a week and one or two games per weekend. Please contact Tim Wiese at 345-1878 for additional information regarding the competitive travel leagues. Adult Soccer Group - has organized pickup games year-round in Dryden, and participates in competitive leagues through the Ithaca Soccer Club. Please contact Bill Turner at 533-7623, email wrt1@cornell.edu, for information. |
